Adel Salman

Jalal Chami

Sheikh Jalal spent much of his youth in teaching Islamic studies and organising large Islamic activities and events for the Muslim community. He went on to complete a Bachelors in Telecommunications Engineering and a Masters in Biomedical Engineering at the University of New South Wales whilst still being a well known and active member of the Muslim community in Sydney, Australia.

Jalal went on to travel to Saudi Arabia to study at the Islamic University in Madinah complete a Bachelors in Islamic Law (Shariah). On his return, he was appointed a full time Imam of Revesby Mosque, in South West Sydney, as his efforts turn to Islamic community development. He is also an appointed teacher at the Islamic College of Australia and continues to be very active in conducting the weekly khutbah and teaching multiple lectures and courses most nights of the week.

Jalal passion for community development continues as he spends most of his spare time directly involved in directing various community da’wah programs.

Nadeem Hussein

Nadeem is the current President of the Islamic Council of Victoria (ICV), the peak representative body for Muslims in that state, where he has been a board member since 2010. He sits on the board of the Australian International Academy, one of Australia’s oldest and most established Islamic schools. He is also an AFL Multicultural Ambassador, a member of Cricket Australia’s Multicultural Strategy Working Group, and the Fawkner Community Strengthening Committee.

Nadeem visits Muslim prisoners at Melbourne Assessment Prison each month, as part of the Prison Chaplaincy program run by the ICV. For the past 11 years he has been a voluntary Imam for the Friday prayers each week, at Melbourne University, RMIT, and various mosques in Melbourne.

Nadeem conducts cross-cultural training for a range of groups including councils, government departments, and Victoria Police, and in 2013 was presented with the Police Community Exemplar Award by Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Ken Lay as part of Victoria’s annual Multicultural Awards for Excellence.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin University and is a Chartered Accountant. Nadeem’s career spans 14 years in the funds management industry, including 9 years at BlackRock, the world’s largest fund manager. He is currently an Investment Manager at Australian Super, one of Australia’s largest industry superannuation funds.

Nadeem is married with four children.

Rian Wiramihardja

Sheikh Rian holds an Advanced Diploma of Arts from the University of New England and spent 6 years completing a diploma in Arabic a Bachelors in Islamic Law (Shariah) at University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia. During this time he was fortunate to study Islamic Law under the direct tutelage of the current appointed teacher of the Shafei madhab of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah and has been approved by him to teach the Shafei madhab.

In addition to being a full time Arabic and Islamic Studies teacher at an International secondary school, he is also a teacher in both the Islamic College of Australia and the Sydney Islamic College. Rian is an extremely actively teacher as he is also involved in a number of study groups on a weekly basis where he provides religious advice and console to all those who meet him.

Rian continues to further his academic interests in Islam and politics as he is currently completing a research thesis titled : ‘The Origins and Evolution of Political Islamic Thought in Indonesia During the Colonial Era” at the University of Western Sydney and a Masters in Education from the University of New England.

Yusuf Tang

Yusuf holds a a Bachelor of Commerce from the university of New South Wales and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Australian graduate school of management (AGSM). Other a 10 year period, he has held various corporate roles in finance and marketing functions in companies such as Apple, eBay and Saudi Telecom.

In addition, his passion for community development through education led him to the establish of the “Students career expo” in 2006. This annual event have benefited thousands since its inception helping to provide Muslim youth important mentoring and career advice as they finish off high school and university. In 2005, he was also one of the founders of the Al Kauthar Institute being instrumental to developing its core brand, marketing and operational strategy.

Yusuf also holds a certificate in the Arabic language and continues to conduct lessons and give khutbah at various centers in the Sydney region. He is currently  undertaking a Bachelors of Islamic Sciences with a major in Fiqh and its principles with the Al-Madinah International University, Malaysia.
